Ministry Directors & Descriptions

 

ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY 

Ada Edwards Chapman

 

Responsible for serving as the Church’s Administrative Secretary carrying out all administrative/clerical duties as assigned including all correspondence. Also performs administrative duties for the Pastor’s Evangelical Ministry.

 

ANNUAL PRAYER VIGIL

Annie Alford

 

Responsible for the 24-hour prayer session for our commitment to the vision God has given us, for our brothers and sisters in Christ, for our personal desires being met, for our needs being provided, and for the gospel being spread across the nation. 

 

APPROACH OF CHURCH CANDIDATES

Ernestine Sudds

 

Responsible for encouraging each member to attract seven (7) members minimum per year to the ministry through evangelism.

 

ATHLETIC / RECREATION DIRECTOR

Melvin Alford

 

Responsible for all sporting competitions that the church will be involved, as well as, formulating teams and recruiting members and coaches with functional affiliated skills.

 

BAPTISMAL

Bernice Jones

 

Responsible for coordinating all baptisms, to include availability of and consent/permission for minors.

 

Beautification

Helen Carter

 

Responsible for all artifacts and flowers for the church service in edifice of main sanctuary as well as the main office entrance area, hospitality room, and fellowship hall. This ministry will assist all Ministry Directors for annual days in ensuring the sanctuary is presentable for worship services. 

 

 

BIBLE STUDY / PRAYER

Linda Jones

 

Responsible for each week having a different rotational ministry at bible study to host event.   Prayer partners pray on same day and time for various concerns including but not limited to unsaved, church, families, finances, peace, and military, etc. 

 

  

BOOK SALE / LIBRARY

Dora  Rogers

 

Responsible for the establishment of a church library to include tapes of worship services, books, CD’s, T-shirts for church advertisement resources etc.  Responsible also for Christian literature available for check-out.

 

CALENDAR CLERK

Responsible for coordinating the church’s calendar and/or calendar of events for the church use with the Pastor’s schedule during the year.  

 

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Leslie Young

 

Evaluator of building projects according to membership expansion. The group is responsible for generating a budget, architect, construction workers, proposals, etc.  Commonly known as the “Building Fund” committee.

 

CHILD DEDICATION

Responsible for coordinating all child(ren) dedications to God. 

 

CHILDREN MINISTER

Corey Coleman

 

Responsible for establishing a plan to present for youth church as membership exceeds the amount the church can hold for a particular age group.  This person will be actively involved with the annual Youth Gospel Extravaganza as planned by the Youth Ministry Director.

 

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Responsible for forming a “Nursery” with state of the art equipment   to accommodate parents with children under the age of five.  

 

CHRISTAN EDUCATION

Responsible for all Christian Education programs being implemented at the church and literature taught at the church.   

 

CHURCH CLERK

Responsible for tracking all donations/contributions and submitting tax documents to the recipients on an annual basis.  

 

  

CHURCH CLIMATE

Responsible for an annual evaluation of church climate on active ministries and corrective criticism to the Pastor concerning decline of ministry (if applicable). 

 

CONVALESCENT HOME MINISTRY

Responsible for scheduling a monthly worship service at various convalescent homes with different Dream Team Captain Members.

 

CUSTODIAN

Titha Brown

 

Responsible for the internal cleanliness of the church facility and entrance for various meetings and worship according to the church calendar.  Also, responsible for ensuring set up for various functions are performed in a timely manner according to the worksheets. 

 

DEACON

Henry Merrells

 

Responsible for carrying out the visionary plan as given by God through the Pastor.  Each assign must be readily available to serve in the capacity as a Dream Team Captain.  

 

DEACONESS

Tammeshia Bolden

 

Responsible for assisting the Deacons in their assigned tasking by the Pastor to include, training, serving communion, and meeting the physical needs of the people in the community. 

 

ECONOMICAL DEVELOPMENT

Charme' Thompson

 

Schedule monthly training for all interested members on various topics from investment, job search, retirement plans, resume writing techniques, job interview preparation, savings, checking, etc in workshop forum.  Prepare the minds of the people for capital campaign projects for building phases and why we pay our money to the church, etc.  Honor all entrepreneurs on the 3rd Sunday of November! 

 

ELITE AUTOMOBILE

Responsible for coordinating a pleasure ride for esteemed vehicles to dine out and promote material blessings.

 

FOOD SERVICE

Coordinator of all food service events to ensure order as well as cleanup of facility when done, etc. 

 

FUNERAL / BEREAVEMENT

Coordinator of all funerals held within the membership with specific format and relay families request to church through the Pastor and  and Chairman of Deacons Ministry.

 

HEALING HEARTS SUPPORT GROUP

HISTORIAN

Responsible for ensuring the history of the church is organized, updated, and kept on file with the Administrative Secretary.  This listing should also be published and updated frequently on the website and for the church anniversary “Founders Day Celebration”.

 

LANDSCAPE

Coordinator for church properties including flowers for church weekly activities and upkeep and cleanliness of lawn area, etc.

 

LITURGICAL ARTS

The arts help theatrical mystery to become visible and effective through a make up of anointed singers, choirs, praise teams, and skilled musicians presenting a repertoire filled with high anthems, hymns, spirituals, gospel music, praise & worship songs, contemporary music, Christian drama and dance.  It provides an avenue for fellowship for members of the congregation who share the love of singing or playing music, expressive movement, dramatization and other visual forms.

 

MEMBERSHIP

Track all members who unite and complete new member’s orientation, ministry assigned, Dream Team sponsor, and how many people were led to Christ for the year.  

  

MENTORSHIP/ TUTORIAL

Adult adopts a youth to role model outside of his or her family and spend time with, at least one full day a month and annual job fair, etc.  Also, responsible for Drama Ministry periodic presentations and youth and college member-training program through educators in the church. 

 

MIGHTY MEN OF VALOR (BROTHERHOOD)

James Gardner

 

Frequent training with all males for male-call. Schedule quarterly activities outside the church to keep the group motivated in participating and fellowship time for the males of all age groups.  Select a Young male director in the teenage bracket to assist Brotherhood Director with youth.  Also, responsible for the establishment of a Male Chorus along with the musicians.

 

MILITARY BASE / VETERAN

Focus on advertisement to all on base, advertise in base newspaper, and host the Veterans Recognition Day on the Second Sunday of November of each year. 

 

 

MINISTRY OF VISITATION

Visit the sick within the church teams with a card of benevolence from the Pastor followed by weekly phone calls until well and return to general assembly. Etc.

 

MOTORCYCLE / BIKERS

Schedule annual blessing of bikes for the citywide riders and enjoy a friendly ride per month with likeminded Saints to experience a new dining out.

 

 

MUSIC MINISTRY

NURSES GUILD

Responsible for responding and evaluating all medical emergencies during each worship service.   Each person must be in the medical vocation or a student of such with knowledge to better assist injured persons.

 

NURTUE FOR BAPTIST TRAINING UNION

Responsible for teaching classes on specific topics to include, but not limited to “WHY AM I BAPTIST / ORDER OF LEADERSHIP / ORDER OF MEMBERSHIP / WHY I PAY MY MONEY TO THE CHURCH/ PARTICIPATING WITH TALENT AND TIME / WHAT SHALL I RENDER UNTO GOD”!. 

 

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

SHARE WITH A CHILD IN NEED through the purchase of gifts and having a hosted Christmas Party prior to Christmas Day for those families in need and can not afford gifts for their children.  Primarily for those children in Shelters. 

 

PASTOR’S AIDE

Responsible for providing aide to the pastor, spiritually, socially, and economically.  The ministry will coordinate each Pastor’s Anniversary with a specific hosting family, plan and be ultimately responsible for the outcome.  Participants must be a motivator and energetic in helping the Pastor get the church visionary plan off the ground and promote all facets of ministry established.

 

PHOTOGRAPHY

The objective of this ministry is to retain still photos of special events and activities by  supporting all Ministry Directors, Christian education, and aid in making all worship services able to be seen by creating a photo gallery for the website ministry and various functions in the church.  Also, responsible for the annual pictorial booklet. 

 

PRAISE DANCE / MIMES

Yolanda Levings

 

Responsible for promoting the church through dance and mimes renditions both locally and nationally.  All music must be conducive with the Pastor’s plan of promoting ministry on a global scale and must be available at a moments notice to travel.

 

PRAYER LINE

Coordinate with telecommunication Director for phone lines to have people available during the hour of radio/TV broadcast to pray for and with those calling in, etc.

 

PRISON / JAIL OUTREACH

Coordinate worship service on regular interval in local prison as an adopted facility to the church and conduct full service for inmates on a monthly basis.  

 

 

PUBLIC RELATIONS

All broadcast interviews for television, radio, and advertisement are performed by this ministry on behalf of the church.

SAINTS FOR LIFE  (age 60 and Up)

A forum to gather all in the appropriate age bracket to fellowship once a month for prayer, scripture reading, discussion, and lunch.

 

SAMARITAN HELPING HANDS

This ministry wars against drugs, alcoholism, and child molestation.  Responsible for attaining a successful Food and Clothe Pantry Ministry with an objective to help the needy. 

 

 

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE

Coordinate fundraisers for hosting the Annual Scholarship Banquet in order to donate funding to youth to further their educational ambitions, dreams, and goals in an educational setting.

SECURITY

Security is responsible for the safety of worshipers and their vehicles during services.  Safety is accomplished through monitoring church services checking for any disorderly worshipers, checking and monitoring all vehicles and parking lots, controlling crowds, and watching for anything that is out of the ordinary orders of worship.

 

SICK AND SHUT-IN

Monitor progress of those who are on the list each Sunday informing the Pastor of their status and progress for worship bulletin entry and Dream Team Captain notification.

 

 

SINGLES MINISTRY (Single, Saved, and Satisfied)

Singles Ministry to include study sessions on various appropriate monthly topics, spiritual outings Quarter, and Annual Gala Affair for singles with invited guest to include gospel entertainment and program, etc.

STREET MINISTRY

Responsible for Save The Youth Gang through HONOR, COURAGE and COMMITMENT to include recognition of the YOUTH PRAISE TEAM, YOUTH DRILL TEAM, YOUTH CHOIR, AND YOUTH USHERS. 

 

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Responsible for coordinating a functional Sunday School environment that is attractive to all age groups.

TELECOMMUNICATION

Telecommunication Ministry will be responsible for contacting prospective members who live and work in the Cedar Grove and surrounding areas.

Responsible for parking area and vehicles for transportation as well as transporting members to and from church facility.

Responsible for maintaining the church’s assets in operational condition at all times as well as generating the proposed annual church budget.   

 

USHERS / HOSPITALITY

Greet perspective new members with a smile, kind word, and assist them in being seated.   The objective is to ensure members and guest feel welcome when they enter our edifice.

 

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Organize and moderate all events for the week with a constructed session of training for all age groups as standard for the Baptist Faith.
